Description

Two storey split with attic rooms.  High pitch clay tiled roof.
Rendered white.
Left front has deep pitched roof descending to first storey with 18 light dormer.
24 light window below with bulls eyes.
Centre of front pitch is interrupted with hipped full height porch extending down to ground floor entrance door with flat canopy, second storey has 6 light window with bulls eyes.
Left return has exposed gable chimney stack rising from hipped, tiled inglenook.
Rear right return extends back with two storeys.  Pitched roof with ridge chimney.
Right return has first and second storey windows and 3 sided 21 light canted flat topped bay.

Right front has 6 light window between storeys, and same on first storey, both with bulls eyes.

The design is fabulously aggresive with a large sharp dominant roof, typical of the Arts and Crafts style.

Colour scheme is at least 40 years old so possibly original.

Morningside Cottage is now more Cleveleys than Thornton, but in the nineteenth century, nearby Meadows Avenue was the heart of Thornton Village.

The design and colours are eye catching and the house retains all of its original character with no obvious change.
