The Library has a selection of detailed Ordinance Survey Maps.  It also holds a small collection of local photographs and a Local History Section containing several books relating to Thornton.

A great site for all records pre and post 1837.  Be aware though that if the results are listed as ‘submitted’ that they are only as good as the knowledge of the person who submitted them.
